Actor, AIADMK leader S.S.Chandran dead

CHENNAI - AIADMK leader and famous Tamil actor S.S.Chandran died of heart attack in Tamil Nadu’s Thanjavur district Friday night, party officials said Saturday.
Chandran, 69, had addressed a public meeting Friday night at Muthupettai in Tiruvarur district and went to Mannargudi where he was supposed to address a public meeting Saturday.
According to party officials, Chandran complained of chest pain in the night and was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared him dead.
His body was brought here in an ambulance Saturday.
Chandran, who had acted in more than 700 films, had also been a Rajya Sabha member.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter and two sons.
AIADMK chief J.Jayalalithaa has termed the loss of Chandran as irreparable.
She said Chandran propagated the party’s policies as well as ruling DMK’s misdeeds in simple language that could be understood by commoners.
She visited his house here to pay her homage.
In his condolence message, MDMK general secretary Vaiko said Chandran was a fearless person and breathed his last only after addressing a party meeting.
