CHENNAI - Tamil Nadu might have started the rationalist movement in the country. But when it comes to movie heroes, rationality goes for a six and it is more so if the hero happens to be Rajnikanth.
Tamil movie super star Rajnikanths fans frenzy reached the crescendo Friday morning when the much-awaited “Enthiran” or “Robot” was released across the state in around 1,000 theatres.
Huge banners and cutouts of Rajnikanth decorated the theatres and eager fans thronged the theatres since morning to watch the multi-crore movie.
Bursting of crackers, poojas and milk “abhishekham” to cutouts were performed by the fans across the state.
In Kanyakumari and Kerala border, the movie film roll was taken in procession on an elephant.
In Nagercoil, a 32-ft cutout made of plaster of paris was kept outside a theatre.
Tickets in black market touched fancy rates.
Even movie actors were bitten by the Rajini bug with actor Simbu watching the movie in a city theatre.
I never miss a Rajni movie, he said.
The tri-lingual mega movie involving an outlay of around Rs.150 crore is touted as the costliest Tamil flick.
Directed by Shankar and paired with Aishwarya Rai, Kollywoods super hero is expected to set right his earlier flop “Kuselan”.
