BEN AFFLECK struggled as the star and director of new heist movie THE TOWN because he regularly felt stressed and exhausted by the workload he’d taken on.

The 38 year old plays a bank robber attempting to turn his life around in the acclaimed new movie - but he admits filming took its toll on his health.

He says, “I was stressed completely and I was on the verge of exhaustion all the time.”

But Affleck is proud of his all-star cast, including Jeremy Renner, Rebecca Hall, Jon Hamm and Blake Lively, for constantly supporting him.

The actor adds, “I was ably supported, the actors were incredible, the crew members did an extraordinary job and you stand on all these people’s shoulders.

“It’s not just like, ‘Oh I’m the director and I make it and do it’ - you have to have people who are really talented and I did in this case and I’m deeply grateful.”

The hard work paid off for Affleck and his castmates - The Town debuted at number one in the box office rundown in America last weekend (19Sep10).
