Catch Kathryn Grayson Festival on TCM

LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com) — Turner Classic Movies has set their mind to feature “Summer Under Stars” August series as a tribute to the Late Kathryn Grayson. Turner will celebrate August 10 as Kathryn Grayson Day. Twelve of Kathryn Grayson’s movies would be aired on that day.
Kathryn Grayson was one of the most celebrated musical stars in the 1940s. Some of her popular films include “Anchors Aweigh” (1947) and “Kiss Me Kate”. She lacked a formal training in acting but even then she was paired with legendary musical actors like Frank Sinatra, Mario Lanza, Gordon MacRae.
Her career went for a downward spiral as the Musicals gradually lost popularity. Her final on screen role was in “The Vagabond King”. Then she started performing on stage during the 1960s and 1970s. She was also featured in TV shows like “Murder, She Wrote” (CBS, 1984-1996). She died at the age of 88 on February 17,2010, in her sleep.
Watch out for her movies as they air on TCM. The list features movies like Seven Sweethearts, Anchors Aweigh. So if you want to get accustomed with the actress’ body of work be sure to tune into Turner Classic Movies.
