UTV Television launches second Marathi show

NEW DELHI - After its hit Marathi TV show “Anamika”, UTV Television has launched a new series called “Maaylek” about a mother-daughter relationship.

“’Maaylek’ touches different emotions that every woman faces at some point in her life. Our effort is to bring high production value, quality and content that will give a completely different feel to the Marathi audiences,” Santosh Nair, chief operating officer of UTV Television, said in a statement.

The show went on air Monday on ETV Marathi.

“Maaylek”, a daily soap, follows an intricate relationship between a mother and a daughter. Driven by the power of justice, Iravati, a criminal lawyer fights to get capital punishment for a woman Radha, who has murdered her husband.

Iravati, however, is completely unaware, that the woman she is fighting against is her own mother.

Written by screenplay and dialogue writer Abhay Paranjape, “Maaylek” has been directed by Mandarr Devsthali.

The cast of the show comprises of veteran actors from the Marathi film industry like Teja Devkar, Subodh Bhave, Prarthana Behere, Aastad Kale, Madhav Abhyankar, Jyoti Joshi, Sanjivani Jadhav, Uma Sirdeshmukh, Rajan Patil, Mitali Varadkar, Maithili Jawkar, Shalmali Tolye and Milind Gunaji.
