Gulshan Kumar Murderer Traced In Bangladesh

DHAKA, BANGLADESH (GaeaTimes.com)- Abdul Rauf Merchant, the only person who had been convicted in court for the murder of music composer Gulshan Kumar is supposedly in the custody of Bangladesh police. According to a report submitted by the police officials in Bangladesh to the Bombay High Court, Abdul Rauf Merchant has been arrested in the country and is now behind bars. Abdul Rauf Merchant who had reportedly killed music giant Gulshan Kumar in the year 1993, has been on the run ever since the court has released him on furlough in March 2009.
The notice which has reached the officials in Bombay High Court has been handed over to additional public prosecutor Mankuwar Deshmukh. These letters also state that the absconding Abdul Rauf Merchant has illegally stepped on to Bangladesh soil, also a crime for which he may be further accused in the Bangladeshi courts. The new charges which have been labeled against Abdul Rauf Merchant says that he procured a false passport under the name of Shek Abdur Rahman to prove that he was a citizen of Bangladesh. Abdul Rauf Merchant was the only among the accused in the Gulshan Kumar murder case who had been convicted by courts in Mumbai in the year 1993.
The Central Bureau of Investigation in New Delhi has also confirmed that they received a latter from the National Crime Bureau of Bangladesh stating that the absconding murderer of Gulshan Kumar, Abdul Rauf Merchant has been traced in their country and is now in the custody of the Bangladesh police. The new case has gone up for hearing in the Indian courts but decision is yet to be taken.
