Hindi film song peps up demo against price rise in Allahabad

ALLAHABAD - Singing a popular number from Bollywood film ‘Peepli Live’, activists and supporters of the Samajwadi Partystaged a protest against price rise in Allahabad on Sunday.
They were protesting against the Congress-led UPA government for the steep rise in prices of essential commodities.
As a part of their protest, the demonstrators held a road show and burnt effigies of price rise, singing in chorus the song from ‘Peepli Live’.
“The way it has been related in the song, the price rise has ruined the common man. The manner in which price rise has taken place in the country, a common man is struggling to make two ends meet,” said Ravindra Yadav, a local Samajwadi Party leader in Allahabad.
“Today by singing the song, we will go to every village and city to tell that the Congress Party has brought price rise,” he added. (ANI)
