LUDHIANA - Bollywood actor Dharmendra has said that he wanted to quit politics.
“I came into politics, it felt that I almost choked myself and felt I was emotionally dragged into this. I never wanted to,” Dharmendra said on Saturday.
“The day I said yes I banged my head into the mirror and thought why I said yes,” he added.
The actor was a member of the 14th Lok Sabha from 2004 to 2009 on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket. He represented Rajasthan’s Bikaner constituency.
Dharmendra denied that he had neglected his constituency.
“No politician would have worked like this. I felt that India is like my mother and Bikaner is one of its parts. I want to serve that area. I wish if every leader wants, India can be a heaven,” he said.
The 74-year-old actor has not been active in his political career and has rarely attended the Parliament when House was in session. (ANI)
