New Delhi To Hold A Three Day Film Festival On Kamal Hassan

June 24, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Veteran Kamal Hassan has contributed a lot to the Indian film industry. He has been a respected actor both in Bollywood as well as in the Tamil and Telugu film Industries.
A film festival titled ‘Retrospective of Kamal Haasan Films’ has been organized in New Delhi, and will continue from 2nd July to 4th July.
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni will be inaugurating the film festival at the Siri Fort Auditorium. The festival will screen seven movies of the actor and entry is free for the public.
Hassan’s Hindi film Hey Ram will open the festival. Other six movies to be screened in the festival include Tamil movies like Virumaandy, Anbe Sivam, Thevar Magan, Nayagan and Dasavatharam and one Telugu movie Sagar Sangamam.
The Padma Shri award winner actor made his debut in films as a 4 year old child actor with the Tamil movie Kalathur Kannamma. The film was released in 12th August 1959 and he won the ‘Film Award’ for ‘Best Child Artist’. He had acted with the veteran Tamil actor Gemini Ganesan in the film.
Haasan has a record of winning nineteen Filmfare Awards in five languages. After receiving his latest award in 2000, he requested the organization not to consider him for further awards.
