COLOMBO - IIFA 2010 host Sri Lanka will be looking to convert the hosting opportunity into a tourism showcase, with the hope of attracting larger numbers of Indians.

“We aim to target 50 percent growth in Indian tourist arrivals after the event,” the Xinhua news agency quoted Laxman Yapa Abeywardene, the deputy minister of Economic Development as saying.

The two neighbours are also expected to embark on new business collaborations at the event.

Over a hundred big names from Bollywood are expected to be attending the ceremony apart from 2000 other Indians.

However, some quarters in Sri Lanka have registered their protest by asking stars not to attend the ceremony in the face of allegations of the genocide of Tamilians by Sri Lankan authorities. (ANI)
