Smurfs Film Halted After Set Accident

Production on the new SMURFS movie ground to a halt on Thursday (20May10) after a set worker fell 30 feet (9.14 metres) during filming at a top toy store in New York.

Director Raja Gosnell was shooting scenes at FAO Schwarz with actor Hank Azaria, who plays the villainous Gargamel, when a man tumbled from a set lift at around 6.30am, after working throughout the night.

Paramedics were called to the scene and the man, whose identity has not been released, was taken to Bellevue Hospital Center where he is said to be in a stable condition, according to the New York Post.

No further details were available as WENN went to press.

Singer Katy Perry, actor Alan Cumming and comedians George Lopez and Kevin James also star in the film.
