MUMBAI - Director Madhur Bhandarkar, who judged the acting and dancing skills of the Femina Miss India 2010 Bollywood Diva finalists, says that he would be able to decide whom to cast from among the models once the character of his future film is ready.

“Whenever I cast, I give more importance to the character. For me, character is more important. Once the character of my future film is ready, I will see who fits best in it,” Madhur told IANS at Novotel hotel here where he had teamed up with actor Anupam Kher and director Vipul Shah for the live audition and screen test of the 18 finalists of the pageant.

Asked about his reaction to the performance of the contestants, he said: “I think the kind of effort they have put in their performance under the guidance of Anupam Kher is commendable. The way they are emoting is very good. There are six, seven girls, who are very talented. I am sure they will become the front-runners in the industry. ”

Madhur maintains that films become the next step for the models because walking the ramp becomes monotonous after some time.

“Everyone loves to explore different levels because modelling at one level becomes monotonous. I have made ‘Fashion’ so I know how it is. Mugdha Godse, whom I introduced, was a model for couple of years before she ventured into acting…there are so many people coming from fashion to the film industry,” he said.
