KOLKATA, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com) — Poila Baisakh marks the beginning of Bengali New Year. According to the Gregorian calendar, it falls on April 14th or April15th. This year it is April 15th. Poila Baisakh or Pohela Boishakh is celebrated with great enthusiasm in West Bengal, Bangladesh, Tripura and Assam. The ethnic Bengalis involve in different festivities to welcome a new year.
