The hitmaker behind OMC’s one-hit wonder HOW BIZARRE has died, aged 40.

New Zealand musician Pauly Fuemana shot to fame in 1995 when his breakthrough tune became an international hit.

Reports suggest Fuemana fell ill at the beginning of 2010 and was hospitalised. The cause of death has not been released.

The singer/songwriter’s OMC (Otara Millionaires Club) scored New Zealand’s biggest-selling album thanks to the success of How Bizarre, the title track, but the group split in the early part of the new century.

Fuemana then suffered financial hardships and filed for bankruptcy in 2006.

He reformed OMC in 2007 and released a single, 4 All of Us, featuring actress Lucy Lawless.
