BANGALORE - Renowned fashion designer Archana Kochhar showcased her latest bridal collection on the third day of the Bangalore Fashion Week here on Saturday.
Top designers presented their winter/spring creations at the fashion extravaganza.
The Archana Kochhar Collection is inspired by 17th and 18th century designs when lux velvet and crushed silk was worn by princesses of the country’s desert regions. Models dressed as brides walked down the ramp in sequined saffron, turmeric and blue coloured sarees and lehengas.
“We have tried to give a new look to the bride, as it is our endeavour to try and give a new look every time. We have gone back to the 17th and the 18th century, when the lux velvet and the crush silk were the call of the day, where all the desert queens wore them. So, we have tried to take inspiration from all that. We took the Indian palette of colours like haldi colour (turmeric), saffron colour, emerald green and Indian blue. We have taken the Indian silhouette of a saree (traditional drape) and a lehenga (long skirt) and have tried to create this collection,” said Kochhar.
Bollywood actor Amrita Rao walked down the ramp in an emerald green-coloured lehenga sequined with colourful stones.
“I am very happy as it is my first fashion week as a show stopper in Bangalore and it is great that I am a show stopper for someone like Archana Kochhar. All her outfits are a festival in itself, it is so festive; the grandeur and the stones and the fanciness that she adds makes you feel like a dream when you walk on the ramp,” said Amrita Rao.
The second edition of the Bangalore Fashion Week boasts of big brands, which include Shantanu and Nikhil, Abdul Halder, Namrata G and Ramesh Dembla.
Milanese designer Claudia Antonini is also expected to launch her brand in India during the event. (ANI)
