Stars roll out for Golden Globes

LOS ANGELES - Hollywood’s award season kicked into high gear Sunday as the movie world’s royalty braved a wet Los Angeles afternoon to strut the red carpet prior to the Golden Globe awards.
George Clooney led the umbrella-covered procession, with his movie “Up in the Air” leading the nomination list with six nominations.
But with sci-fi epic “Avatar” still going strong at the international box office with over $1.3 billion, many are betting that the James Cameron movie will dominate the Golden Globes, and the Oscar nominations due to be announced early next month.
Avatar is nominated for best picture as well as best director, best original score and best original song. Other movies up for best drama include “Up in the Air”, “The Hurt Locker”, “Inglourious Basterds” and “Precious”.
The nominees for best comedy or musical are “500 Days of Summer”, “The Hangover”, “It’s Complicated”, “Julie & Julia” and “Nine”.
