Who will take away the audience from 3D and 3I this Friday?
By SAMPURNTuesday, January 12, 2010
It will be friday soon and bunch of four Bollywood flicks are racing to win the audience’s heart. In the midst of neck to neck competition between 3 Idiots and Avatar, last week’s two releases and romantic Pyaar Impossible and light entertainer Dulha Mil Gaya faced a heavy setback. Now the question arises will these movies click with the audience who ain’t ready to get out of 3 Idiots and Avatar mania? Let’s take a look and gauge for ourselves:
Chance Pe Dance :The date January 15 will see the release of Ken Ghosh directed Chance Pe Dance starring dancing star Shahid Kapoor and bubbly Genelia D’Souza. This is a promising movie for the matter of the fact that Ken-Shahid combination has worked brilliantly before like Ishq Vishk which happens to be Shahid’s debut movie. Dance is Shahid’s forte and he plays a struggling actor in the movie and has got some wonderful dance tracks composed by Adnan Sami, Pritam and Sandeep Shridker which have already created waves. Genelia looks lovely and she makes magical pair with Shahid, their chemistry is flaming in trailors so, this duo is definitely to watch out for in this light hearted flick. Smart promotional strategies will prove to be like an icing on the cake for this flick.
Hello…Hum Lallan Bol Rahe Hai: Rajpal Yadav Starrer Hello…Hum Lallan Bol Rahe Hai’s release is too around the corner and the actor is doing what he is best at which is ‘comedy’. Directed by Dileep Shukla and having powerful actors like Manoj Joshi and Ketki Dave movie seems promising as far as performances are concerned. Dileep Shukla has earlier directed 2004 release Police Force which was did not do well at box office but he was well-acclaimed for dialogue writing in Andaaz Apna Apna and Mohra and also did screenplay for few hit movies. So, the fate of this movie is dicey as though the Rajpal is great actor, film with him as solo lead have not worked well before be it Ladies Tailor or Main Meri Patni aur Woh . Only word of mouth can help if the content clicks with critics because promotional measures are nil.
Bhavnao Ko Samjho: is yet another comedy flick written, produced and directed by standup comedian Sunil Pal. There is a whole gang of comedian’s like Sunil Pal, Ehsaan Qureshi, Raju Srivastav, Naveen Prabhakar, Dinesh Hingoo, Khayali, Kapil Sharma, Gurpreet Guggi, Johny Lever, Sambhavna Seth, Rauf Lala, Rajeev Thakur, Parag Kansara and Sanghmitra. Considering the popularity these comedians have gained through their stints on television the movie is going to be roller-coaster ride. But yes a word of caution because Bhavnao Ko Samjho is Sunil Pal first attempt as a filmmaker, and also watching the history of not many television actors could make it big on small screen little doubts ca easily creep in. Jhonny Lever’s fame may be advantageous but even he is out of action since a long time therefore the movie should really be strongly scripted.
Idiot box: Last but not the least Idiot Box is another movie competing at box-office this Friday. Intense actor Sushant Singh who has been praised for his performances in movies like Jungle and The Legend of Bhagat Singh is playing a lead role in this small budget movie. Movie has Hrishita Bhatt in the female-lead and is directed by Sunanda Mitra. Small budget movies with good actors and script have worked wonders at the box–office in past like Bheja Fry and Khosla Ka Ghosla considering their good script and thus, strong word of mouth. So even Idiot Box’ can join that league only if it has a bound script, good performances and well direction.
Chance Pe Dance is definitely a stronger contender for those who have already left a mark 3 Idiots and others which are release with it.
