Denzel Washington wants to return to theatre work

LONDON - American actor Denzel Washington has revealed that he wants to return to theatre work and leave his Hollywood career behind.
Washington, 55, who is set to appear on Broadway in April, made a list of what he wants to do career wise, and he has listed performing on stage at the top.
“My priorities have changed. The first thing I wanna do is theatre. The second is direct movies. Acting in movies is now number three on the list,” the Daily Star quoted him as telling the New York Post.
The actor had started his acting career in a 1970s college production of Shakespeare’s ‘Othello’, before winning critical acclaim for his role in ‘A Soldier’s Play’ and Broadway’s ‘Julius Caesar’ in 2005.
He is now set to relocate to New York ahead of his upcoming stint in a revival of August Wilson’s ‘Fences’, and he is excited at the prospect of performing in front of a live audience again after years spent sacrificing his first love for the sake of his family.
“I always felt bad with eight shows a week - you can’t get home. I always felt bad doing it (a Broadway run),” he said.
“Julius Caesar was the first time in a long time I came back to New York, because of the children,” he added. (ANI)
