JESSICA BIEL made a secret visit to Tanzania earlier this month (Jan10) to see first-hand how her week-long charity trek up Mount Kilimanjaro will benefit poverty-stricken locals.

The actress began her 19,341-foot (5,895-metre) climb up the African peak on Thursday (07Jan10) to fundraise and highlight the need for clean drinking water in less economically developed countries.

But before the star began the trek, she visited the African country to see how the money raised from the climb will be spent.

Biel says, “Meeting the people and community in Tanzania… has been an invaluable and eye-opening experience for me.

“My hope is that others will be inspired to find ways that they can help; starting simply in their homes and continuing to other parts of the world. We are all in this together.”

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen actress Isabel Lucas and rapper Lupe Fiasco are also taking part in the Summit on the Summit expedition.
