Clooney’s Up in the Air with Golden Globes nominations

LONDON - Hollywood hunk George Clooney’s new film ‘Up in the Air’ is leading the Golden Globes nominations list with six nods.
The film, about a lonely travelling businessman, has won nominations in top categories like Best Motion Picture (Drama), Best Actor (Drama) for Clooney, and Best Director for Jason Reitman.
Other big challengers include movie musical Nine, with five nominations, while Avatar and Inglourious Basterds both have got four.
Up in The Air will compete in the Best Picture category with Avatar and Inglourious Basterds, The Hurt Locker and Precious:
Based On The Novel Push By Sapphire.
Clooney will fight it out with actors Jeff Bridges (Crazy Heart), Colin Firth (A Single Man), Morgan Freeman (Invictus) and Tobey Maguire (Brothers) for Best Actor (Drama).
Vera Farmiga and Anna Kendrick have both been nominated in the Best Supporting actress category, reports the Daily Star.
The Best Actress (Drama) category includes Emily Blunt (The Young Victoria), Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side), Helen Mirren (The Last Station), Carey Mulligan (An Education) and Gabourey Sidibe (Precious: Based On The Novel Push By Sapphire).
Meryl Streep has won two nominations in the Best Performance By An Actress In A Motion Picture - Comedy Or Musical for ‘It’s Complicated’ and ‘Julie and Julia’
The Golden Globe Awards, hosted by Ricky Gervais, will take place on 17 January (09) in Los Angeles.
