Long-running U.S. daytime soap opera AS THE WORLD TURNS is looking for a new home - it’s been dropped by CBS network bosses after 54 years.
TV executives have cancelled the show and the final episode will air in September (10).
Executive producer Chris Goutman says, “Throughout our history, As the World Turns has remained dedicated to sharing compelling stories that have entertained fans for more than five decades. We are disappointed and saddened by the news that the show is not being renewed.”
A show source reveals the programme’s bosses are seeking “a new outlet to carry the show”.
The daily soap helped launch the careers of stars like Marisa Tomei, Dana Delany, James Earl Jones, Julianne Moore, Parker Posey and Meg Ryan.
