Mandy Moore to voice Rapunzel in Disney movie

LONDON - American singer-actress Mandy Moore has signed up to do the voiceover for the title character in Disney’s 3-D animated version of fairytale “Rapunzel”.

In a revamp of the classic tale, actor Zachary Levi will provided the voiceover for Prince Charming, reports contactmusic.com.

The new story picks up with the princess, famous for her 70 feet-long golden hair, after she’s been abducted from her parents’ castle as an infant and imprisoned. Now a teenager, Rapunzel escapes and goes on the run with a bandit as her captor pursues them.

The film will be directed by Byron Howard and Nathan Greno, while music will be composed by Alan Menken, who scored for previous Disney masterpieces like “Beauty and the Beast” and “Aladdin”.
