The Final Destination Stays Atop U.s. Box-office

THE FINAL DESTINATION is holding on to its top spot at the U.S. box-office, taking $12.4 million (£8.3 million) over America’s Labour Day weekend (begs05Sep09).

The 3-D horror film scored its second-straight weekend at number one and now boasts a 10-day total to $47.6 million (£31.7 million).

Debuting at second, Sandra Bullock’s romantic comedy All About Steve took in $11.2 million (£7.5 million).

Slipping to number three is Quentin Tarantino’s war film Inglourious Basterds - his first collaboration with Brad Pitt, which took in $10.8 million (£7.2 million). The film boasts a three week total of $91 million (£60.7 million).

Rounding out the top five are Gerard Butler’s new action film Gamer, which debuted at number four with $9 million (£6 million), and at number five is District 9, which took in $7million (£4.7 million). (JMA/WNWA/MJ)
