2 radio towers in Wash. state toppled

EVERETT, Wash. — Two radio station towers toppled after someone used a piece of heavy equipment to knock them down.

General Manager Andy Skotdal says a sign left at the scene Friday says ELF, likely a reference to the Earth Liberation Front. But Skotdal says it’s too early to know if the radical environmental group is responsible.

The family-owned station has been fighting opponents of an addition to its existing towers east of Everett.

The station has transferred its radio transmission and remains on the air.
