CHENNAI - She will not resort to glamorous roles to survive in the industry, says southern actress Saranya Mohan who is keeping her career options open.

“I will never turn to glamour to survive in the industry. I intend to continue doing deglamourised roles because it suits me best,” Saranya told IANS.

She is also choosy about roles. After the success of her Tamil film “Vennila Kabadikuzhu”, Saranya was flooded with offers, but the actress has turned them down.

Right now she is only doing a Malayalam film. Titled “Chemistry”, it is being directed by noted Malayalam film director Viji Thampi and the actress is paired with a newcomer.

Ask whether she is neglecting Tamil movies, she said: “I’m listening to scripts and the moment I will come across a script that touches my soul, I will take next available flight to Chennai. I’ll accept an offer only if I will feel that I can relate to the character in the script.

“There is no compulsion for me to remain an actress forever. I’m pursuing bachelors in English literature. I have also learnt Carnatic vocal. If I will get an opportunity to sing, I might even become a playback singer.”
