The pilots of the plane which crashed and almost killed TRAVIS BARKER and ADAM GOLDSTEIN heard strange noises from the engine moments before the jet went up in flames last September (08).

The drummer and bandmate Goldstein, aka DJ AM, escaped from the fiery wreckage while two pals and two pilots perished in the tragedy when the Learjet they were all aboard failed to clear a runway in South Carolina.

Transcripts of the cockpit log, released by the National Transportation Safety Board on Friday (07Aug09), reveal pilot Sarah Lemmon and her colleague James Bland became aware they were in trouble when they heard a series of metal clicks coming from the engine.

Bland asks Lemmon, “What was that?”, to which she replies, “I don’t know. We’re not going though.”

Moments later Lemmon attempts to abort takeoff by slamming on the aircraft’s brakes as one pilot says, “What is going on here?”

Bland then alerts air traffic controllers to prepare for impact, telling them, “Roll the equipment, we’re going off the end.”

The plane crashed seconds after Bland’s warning, killing four of the six people onboard and leaving Barker and Goldstein with severe burns.

A final report on the probable cause of the tragic accident is not expected for another few months.

Blink-182 star Barker recently opened up about the day he almost lost his life, admitting he is still struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.

He told Rolling Stone magazine, “I just stopped burping up jet fuel three months ago… It feels like death’s way over there, and every day I’m running away from it.”
