Nude TV role forced Kiwi star Lucy Lawless to hit the gym

WELLINGTON - Kiwi actress Lucy Lawless had to hit the gym to prepare for a nude scene in upcoming sword-and-sandals series for television, ‘Spartacus: Blood and Sand’.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the 41-year-old actress spoke about her role as United States cable TV channel Starz unveiled the trailer for the gladiator series at a fan gathering in California.

Producer Steven DeKnight said that Spartacus is going to have “a death toll like nothing you’ve seen on television before”.

Lawless said that a nude scene in the TV series had forced her to join the gym.

“I do have to work out. Being naked on-screen is no fun,” the NZPA quoted her as saying.

The shooting for the series has begun in New Zealand and is slated to be shown on Starz next January. (ANI)
