LONDON - Quentin Tarantino was overwhelmed when he was greeted by screaming fans at the red carpet in London for the UK premiere of his World War II epic Inglourious Basterds.

The director was joined by actors from the film, Diane Kruger and Christoph Waltz, while singer Rihanna and actor Mickey Rourke were among the VIP guests, reports the BBC.

The film’s star, Brad Pitt - who attended the world premiere at Cannes Film Festival in May with partner Angelina Jolie - did not make an appearance.

“Frankly this is overwhelming,” Tarantino said of the screaming fans.

“I’m very proud of this. I can’t wait to see what the audience thinks of it,” he added.

‘Inglourious Basterds’ will be released in the UK and the US on 21 August.

The film tells the story of a crack group of Jewish-American soldiers stalking Nazis in occupied France. (ANI)
