CHENNAI - Tamil actor Vijay could be the next on the list of film stars turning to politics. He revealed his political aspirations on his birthday, but said he would start off by forming a social organisation with the help of his fans.

A series of social service activities were held on his 35th birthday Monday that included a free medical camp and the launch of free computer training centres here. And he chose to open his heart out on the occasion.

“I will hit the streets and raise my voice for people’s problems. My fans and well-wishers have been insisting that I convert my fans welfare associations (numbering over 37,000) throughout the state into a political outfit. There has been a series of meetings over their request and I also attended a few,” said Vijay.

He said he won’t float a political party right away though he would like to form a social organisation.

“I am currently busy acting. I haven’t thought about floating a political party, though I agree with their view. Already, my fans have become my followers. My fans have been involved in various social activities over the last few years benefiting several thousands of people. We want to reach out to the maximum. Hence we are keen on making it a social organisation and do many activities on a large scale that would benefit society,” the actor explained.

on the films front, Vijay is set to start work on his 50th movie soon.

“It is produced by Sangili Murugan. The director and the rest of the cast have not yet been decided,” he said.
