International film fest on tribal art opens in Bhopal

BHOPAL - Vivid hues of tribal art, life and culture from all over the world found expression at the three-day International Festival of Films on Tribal Art and Culture that began here in Madhya Pradesh Friday.

The festival will showcase 60 films and documentaries from over 40 countries, including India, Argentina, New Zealand, the US, Romania, Kazakhistan, Czech Republic, Nigeria and Egypt among others.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, inaugurating the festival, said: “This film festival will showcase tribal culture before the international community and hope that this will become a medium of exchange of cultural specialties of tribal communities of the world that it will be held regularly in the coming years too.

Chouhan said the festival will be an annual event.

The event has been organised by the state’s tribal welfare department and its creative cell Vanya.

Union Tribal Affairs Minister Kantilal Bhuria was present on the occasion.

The first edition of the festival was organised in Indore last year.
