LONDON - Sci-fi thriller ‘Inception’, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, was the big winner at the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) Awards in Los Angeles.
Cinematographer Wally Pfister triumphed in the feature film category for his work on ‘Inception’, taking the top prize during the ceremony at the city’s Hollywood and Highland Grand Ballroom, reports the Daily Star.
Inception’s victory came at the expense of other high profile nominees including Black Swan, The King’s Speech, The Social Network and True Grit.
In the TV categories, Boardwalk Empire and The Pacific were both honoured, while True Grit cinematographer Roger Deakins was hailed for his career achievement and Julia Roberts accepted the Board of Governors Award from Tom Hanks.
The actress joked in her acceptance speech, “Thank God (for cinematographers). I know what I look like at a 5.30 (am) rehearsal and what I look like at a matinee.” (ANI)
