MUMBAI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- Everything that ace Bollywood actor Amir Khan does turns into a headline and this includes those projects where he does not have a pivotal role. When he decided to produce the directorial debut of his wife Kiran Rao, ‘Dhobi Ghat’ became a darling of the Indian media. After much wait the movie is being released all over India tomorrow and a special screening of the film has been held for selected audience. The early reviews are quite encouraging and the reviewers have said that Kiran Rao has almost hit the bull’s eye with her debut film as a director. One film old Prateik Babbar, son of late legendary actress Smita Patil and actor politician Raj Babbar has left his mark in the movie and his career graph is likely to soar upwards post the release of this film.
The film ‘Dhobi Ghat’ got a standing ovation at the famous Toronto International Film Festival last year and the same reception greeted it at London Film Festival later last year. The director has cast two newcomers in this film and the only established star actor is her husband Amir Khan. Actor Prateik Babbar who plays a pivotal role in the movie said that he was glad when he was offered the part of Munna even though he was not sure that Kiran Rao wanted him for the role.
‘Dhobi Ghat’ is also Prateik Babbar’s first film where he plays the lead role. He said that he was not intimidated by the fact that Kiran Rao was a dbutante director in Bollywood. The handsome actor is aware of the expectation of the viewers from him and says he will try to give each film that comes his way the level best.
