LONDON - A new survey has found that the breadmaker is the least used of all appliances given as gifts.

The survey, carried out by market researchers Mintel, found that 36 percent of people who have received one as a present hardly use it.

Sandwich toasters and coffee makers were the next least-used items, with 28 percent of owners saying both the products were rarely used.

“While the breadmaker is a popular gift idea, this latest research shows that an enormous number of appliances are barely used,” the Daily Mail quoted Richard Caines, senior retail analyst, as saying.

“The risk of not checking that a person actually wants a particular item is clear from the number of appliances that are owned but hardly ever used that were received as gifts,” he said.

But the research, based on the responses of 1,016 adults, found that despite lack of use, sales of small kitchen appliances including kettles, electrical gadgets and toasters have soared over the last five years. (ANI)
