Greeting from ex-hubby leaves Cole in tears

LONDON - Singer Cheryl Cole felt very emotional and shed tears after receiving a Christmas greeting from former husband Ashley.

The 28-year-old “X Factor” judge broke down when she received a festive message from the soccer star wishing her all the best in 2011, reports thesun.co.uk.

“Cheryl felt quite choked up at being sent the card. After all that has happened between them, she thought it was a nice gesture. It has been a difficult year and as anyone who has been in love knows, the holidays can bring on a lot of emotion and nostalgia,” said a source close to the singer.

The couple divorced in September this year after four years of marriage. However, they are on amicable terms.

Cole is spending the Christmas break with her family in Newcastle as she decided to scrap her plans to go to Los Angeles to see her dancer friend Derek Hough.

Nevertheless, Hough sent her a pair of diamond earrings, and hopes to see her ring in the New Year with him.
