LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- The wait of the ‘Batman’ fans who have been anticipating some development on the sequel to the blockbuster ‘The Dark Knight’ is going to be over soon. The director of the film said in a recent interview that the sequel to the film which had actors Christian Bale and Heath Ledger playing the protagonist and antagonist respectively will be released in 2012. It will be named ‘Dark Knight Rises’. However, the ‘Inception’ director has chosen not to follow the popular Hollywood trend and said that the sequel will not be shot in 3D. This is somewhat unexpected since the recent hits like ‘Resident Evil: Afterlife’ and upcoming Harry Potter flick etc are all made in 3D format. The stupendous success of the James Cameron magnum opus ‘Avatar’ set the trend in Hollywood.

However, the ‘Dark Knight’ did not succeed owing to 3D anyways, it was shot in 2D. The films directed by Christopher Nolan are known for their visual effects and mastery of ploy. The director wants to retain the same feel and look in the sequel to the film. However, the success of the film will depend a lot on the cast. It will be hard to find a villain who can reach the levels of evil which was achieved by the late Heath Ledger who immortalized the character of Joker. However, this does not mean the ‘Dark Knight Rises’ will not have CGI or visual effects. The director gave a hint that it may offer the viewers visuals that have not been seen before in movies.

Dark Knight Rises‘ will be the third Batman movie to be directed by Christopher Nolan. It is reported to have Tom Hardy in its cast.
