Kumar Sanu to sing his popular numbers at CWG event

KOLKATA - Renowned singer Kumar Sanu feels honoured at getting an opportunity to perform at a cultural event during the Oct 3-14 Commonwealth Games and says he will render his popular Hindi numbers.

“It’s a great honour for me to get an opportunity to perform at the Commonwealth Games event. I will be performing in the ‘Delhi Celebrates’ event which has been planned to showcase India’s cultural heritage to the visitors,” Kumar Sanu told IANS during the launch of his new Bengali music album ‘Keno Ele Na’.

One of the leading playback singers of Bollywood, Sanu holds the unique record of winning the Filmfare awards for best singer five times consecutively.

When asked which song he planned to sing during the event, Sanu said: “I will sing my own popular Hindi numbers in my own style. I will sing the songs for which I am known.”

The Delhi Celebrates event, which will have performances by Javed Akhtar, Udit Narayan, Shabana Azmi, Kumar Sanu - and rock bands, as well as classical and qawwali by well known personalities, has been planned to showcase India’s cultural heritage to the visitors.
