BANGALORE - Southern superstar Mammootty says that he prefers to work with young, debutant directors as they have helped his career.
“I am little selfish in that respect. I have always worked with debutants and young directors because they will always come up with scripts with fresh concepts. They always come up with novel themes and this has helped me in getting variety of roles,” Mammootty said.
The actor’s first Kannada Movie “Shikari” is written and directed by young Kannada director Abhay Simha. The film is also being made simultaneously in Malayalam.
Mammootty who is writing the dialogues for the Malayalam version of the film said he was happy about making his entry in the Kannada film industry with “Shikari”.
“Karnataka and Kerala have a common cultural link through Yakshagana dance form. The people of the two states have maintained cordial relations. It was natural for me to have accepted a Kannada film sooner or later. I am glad Abhay Simha brought in an exciting script,” Mammootty said.
