VANESSA HUDGENS was scolded by producers while filming new romance movie BEASTLY after repeatedly mussing up her hair to get into character.

The actress plays an unkempt student in the new fantasy film, an update on the Beauty and the Beast fairytale, and embraced the idea of not having to look perfectly polished.

But the brunette beauty admits she went too far - and landed in trouble after attempting to dishevel her locks.

She tells MTV.com, “I made a point to not look put-together. On the first day of shooting, I would not stop fidgeting with my hair. I was trying to make it look messier and messier and messier and messier! Finally, the producers were like, ‘You need to calm down on messing your hair up, because it’s getting a little too crazy.’”
