Los Angeles (GaeaTimes.com) Designing Woman Dixie Carter is no more. The sad news was broke yesterday by her husband Hal Holbrook and a representative of her. But the announcement drew controversy as it did not mention any cause of death. According to them, Carter died Saturday morning at the age of 70.
People are searching over the internet crazily to know the cause of her death but there is still no information about it.
This has been a terrible blow to our family, we would appreciate everyone understanding that this is a private family tragedy.
The family said in a statement.
Some are speculating that cancer may be the cause of the death but there are no reports that she was even ill.
Dixie carter is also known as Julia Sugarbraker to many people as it was the name of the role on the sitcom designing women. She also acted the role of Nancy Pinkerton as Dorian Cramer on the soap ‘One Life to Live’. There was another popular soap opera ‘The Edge of the night’ in which she acted as The Assistant D.A. Olivia Brandeis, Brandy Henderson.
After she left those programs she appeared in ‘On our Own’, ‘Out of the Blue’, ‘Filthy Rich’ and ‘Different Strokes in 1982. The beginning of her career was made with a professional stage debut in 1960. She moved to New York city in 1963.
The cause of her death is yet to be known but we’ll post them here as soon as we find them.

According to The New York Times, Dixie Carter’s cause of Death: Dixie Carter, an accomplished actress who gave strong, opinionated Southern women a good name in the television series “Designing Women” in the 1980s and 1990s, and later enjoyed success as a cabaret singer, died on Saturday in a Houston hospital. She was 70 and lived in Beverly Hills, Calif. Her death was announced by her husband, the actor Hal Holbrook, who said that the cause was complications of endometrial cancer. |
