Moore In Clean Water Campaign
By WENNFriday, March 26, 2010
Singer/actress MANDY MOORE is campaigning for clean water in Africa - she’s backing a drive to help improve sanitation in Southern Sudan.
The star attended a rally on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. on Monday (22Mar10) as part of World Water Day.
Moore took part in a briefing before participating in a photo shoot showing the world’s longest toilet queue to demonstrate the sanitation problems and lack of clean water in poorer countries.
Moore, who has recently visited Sudan, says, “Last year, my eyes were opened to the problems caused by a lack of safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene. Here on Capitol Hill, it’s hard for us to imagine what it’s like to face illness every time we’re thirsty but it’s a reality in Southern Sudan. It is an overwhelmingly tragic situation but the good news is we can do something about it.”
