Penn Charged With Battery & Vandalism

Actor SEAN PENN has been charged with criminal battery and vandalism following a violent run-in with a paparazzo.
Penn was captured on video attacking the unnamed photographer, who was following him in Brentwood, California last October (09). It was later broadcast on website TMZ.com.
During the scuffle, the snapper’s camera was damaged.
Penn was officially charged with the two misdemeanour counts on Friday (19Feb10). He faces 18 months behind bars if convicted.
The actor will be arraigned in Los Angeles County Superior Court on 22 March (10).
It’s not the first time Penn has been reprimanded for his violent outbursts - the 49-year-old Oscar winner was sentenced to 60 days in jail for punching a movie extra on the set of the police drama Colors in 1987. He was on probation at the time for punching a songwriter at a Los Angeles club.
