MELBOURNE - Aussie actor Sam Worthington, famed for his ‘Avatar’ role, has been tipped as the next person to play the famous spy James Bond.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Worthington, 33, has become the favourite ahead of Will Smith to replace Daniel Craig as the famed British spy on the big screen, reports News.com.au.
His interpretation of Corporal Jake Sully, a disabled soldier who falls in love with an alien from Pandora in Avatar helped the James Cameron film to overtake Titanic as the highest grossing film ever.
Names being touted as his potential love interest as new Bond girls include Britain’s Cheryl Cole and Freida Pinto, who starred in Slumdog Millionaire.
The only other Australian to play the hero, most famously brought to life by Roger Moore and Sean Connery, was George Lazenby. (ANI)
