KIEFER SUTHERLAND has been roped into a new lawsuit after the actor was allegedly conned into funding a cattle scam that netted over $1 million (GBP625,000).
Michael Wayne Carr is accused of making agreements to buy steers in Mexico and sell them for profit in the U.S. for customers, including the 24 star - a former rodeo regular - who handed over $869,000 (GBP543,125) to help fund the project.
According to prosecutors, there is no record Carr ever bought the steers. He is also accused of selling steers that didn’t belong to him.
Carr is charged with 12 felonies, including grand theft, forgery and embezzlement.
He is scheduled to be arraigned on 8 February (10) and faces up to 18 years in prison if convicted on all charges.
