PUNE - From Pt. Rajan and Sajan Misra to Shankar Mahadevan — over 2,400 classical vocalists from around the world will perform here Tuesday to showcase the vast repertoire of Indian classical music and to provide a platform for the exponents of this ancient Indian art.
Spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s Art of Living Foundation is organising the concert at the SP College Grounds from 6 p.m.
“Music brings everyone together, joins hearts and calms the mind. Music, knowledge and meditation need to be a part of our education. Only then education is complete,” Ravi Shankar said in a statement.
Musicians taking part in the event will include those from Russia, Africa and Britain. They will range from child prodigies, with the youngest being 12 years of age, to senior practitioners who are of 75 years of age.
