MARIAH CAREY has been tipped to play HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL star VANESSA HUDGENS’ mother in a new comedy based on an AMERICAN IDOL-style TV talent show, according to reports.
The R&B superstar, who has won praise for her role as a dressed-down make-up free social worker in drama Precious, is reportedly in talks with movie producers to portray the mum of a teenager.
A source tells Showbizspy.com, “Mariah is eager to capitalise on her acclaimed performance in Precious with another movie.
“There is one project where she would play one half of a mother and daughter singing duo who audition for a TV talent show. Vanessa Hudgens has already been approached for the daughter role.”
But industry insiders fear Carey, 40, will snub the part because she won’t want to be aged for the role.
The source adds, “The only sticking point seems to be whether Mariah feels comfortable playing mum to a teenager. She’s a little sensitive when it comes to her age.”
