Tragic Murphy’s Estranged Dad Lost For Words

BRITTANY MURPHY’s estranged father has been left reeling from his daughter’s shocking death, insisting she was too young to die.
The 8 Mile star died on Sunday (20Dec09) at the age of 32 after suffering a cardiac arrest at her Hollywood Hills home.
Reports suggest she had been taking prescription medication for flu-like symptoms and had been vomiting in the early hours of Sunday.
Authorities believe Murphy’s death was “natural” and no foul play has been suspected.
Murphy’s dad Angelo Bertolotti is struggling to come to terms with his sudden loss, admitting he’s “still in shock” over the tragic news.
He tells UsMagazine.com, “There is nothing I can say. I can’t believe this is happening. She was a young 32. She wasn’t supposed to die like this.
“I don’t understand how she died. This doesn’t make sense to me.”
But Bertolotti, who had reportedly served time in prison for his ties to the mafia, confesses he had not seen the star since 2006, blaming her marriage to husband Simon Monjack for pushing them apart.
He adds, “Ever since she married that Simon, I lost contact with her. But I always kept track of her to make sure she was OK in case she needed me. She married him and everything changed. After that, we weren’t so close.”
However, Bertolotti will always have fond memories of his beloved daughter: “I will miss her smile and her work ethic. She was such a hard worker. I was so proud of her. This was a girl who had been working since she was seven.
“Everyone she worked with loved her. That’s who she was. She was loveable. There is nothing more I can say. I’m trying to make sense of this, and I can’t.”
