NY Clinton meeting focuses on economy, Katrina
NEW YORK — Education, jobs and the rebuilding of New Orleans are up for discussion at the Clinton Global Initiative — which features royalty of the real and Hollywood variety.
Actor Brad Pitt is scheduled to speak Thursday evening, making a progress report on the efforts in New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina.
Queen Rania of Jordan and U.S. Labor Secretary Hilda Solis (soh-LEES’) are among the scheduled panelists for a session Thursday afternoon. The topic is how to create access to education and jobs to lay the foundation for a society’s prosperity.
The Clinton Global Initiative is an annual event started by former President Bill Clinton that brings together the public and private sector to discuss solutions to the world’s most pressing issues, like climate change and poverty.
