LONDON - R ‘n’ B singer Mariah Carey has pulled herself out of the 2010 Grammy Awards, after she postponed the release date for her latest album by a day of the cut off date for the running nominations.
Carey, 39, will release her latest album ‘Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel’ on September 29.
The singer has won just five awards out of twenty-one nominations she got since 1991, and now she has reportedly snubbed organisers to avoid another disappointment.
“Mariah’s been shafted (let down) so many times before that it’s like a big ‘Kiss my butt’ to the Grammy folks,” the Daily Star quoted a music industry insider as telling the New York Daily News.
“She doesn’t need the awards, because her career is already so successful,” the source added.
The 52nd Grammy Awards ceremony is scheduled to air from the Los Angeles Staples Center on January 31, 2010. (ANI)
