DRAKE REFUSES TO BE SIDELINED BY INJURY

Injured rapper DRAKE has no regrets about defying doctors’ orders by performing on Friday (31Jul09) - insisting he will always push himself “beyond the limits” to entertain his fans.
The rising star cancelled his 30-minute solo slot on the Young Money Presents America’s Most Wanted Music Festival tour stop in New Jersey after medics warned him he needed time to recover from a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
But he refused to stay away from the stage, grabbing a mic to join Lil Wayne for a live collaboration - moments before his knee gave way while dancing and he collapsed in agony.
He was then forced to undergo a surgical procedure on Sunday (02Aug09) to repair the damage to his torn ligament - but he is adamant he has no remorse about his decision to perform.
He writes on his official blog, “I am about two hours away from Toronto, Canada where I will be spending the next chunk of time recovering from a surgery that I now must have. I embarked on this tour with a torn ACL… and due to the events that happened the other night, lord only knows what other damage I have done.
“I will forever push myself beyond the limits despite advice and recommendations given because even with this new found success I am still the kid who wanted this more than anything in the world… I just want to assure anyone reading that nothing has changed on my end. I refuse to get comfortable, I refuse to fall in line and follow anyone else’s formulas (sic).”
