American Capital completes People Media sale
BETHESDA, Md. — Investment firm American Capital Ltd. said Thursday it has completed the sale of People Media to Match.com, a dating site run by Internet company IAC/InterActiveCorp.
American Capital said it received $57 million in cash proceeds and booked a gain of $15 million in the third quarter from the deal.
The purchase adds 27 sites to Match.com’s portfolio, including BlackPeopleMeet.com and SeniorPeopleMeet.com. People Media has 255,000 paying subscribers. Match already runs subscription-based dating sites in 24 countries.
Shares of American Capital slid 4 cents to close at $2.99.
